Dermal fillers are injectable substances that can be used for several entirely different aesthetic treatments (collectively known as "contour correction"). These treatments serve the same purpose: to correct the shape of the body. Skin tightening, toning, face lifts, liposuction, certain botox injections, and several other plastic surgery and injection methods can all fall under the category of contour correction, depending on the definition. The idea of body contour correction is quite an old one and has always been popular as a whole, however the favored techniques have changed over time. As with everything in the field of aesthetic medicine, the trend is to move away from the scalpel, and give preference to less invasive non-surgical methods, such as dermal fillers. Modern fillers are able to deliver results comparable to surgery with much less potential side effects and complications.
